Symptoms and Risk Factors

Symptoms include the partial or generalized loss of hair or bristles. Alopecia can be experienced in an acute or progressive way.

Signs often associated with alopecia: dull hair, itchy scalp, painful roots, excess sebum and dandruff.

Risk factors:

  • Heredity
  • Intense stress (surgery, death, divorce, etc.)
  • Permanent lesion of the scalp (radiotherapy or burning)
  • Skin diseases (lichen planus, lupus erythematosus, skin tumors)
  • Hormonal changes
